Happy New Year everyone!
I’m so thrilled that we are starting the new year with snow on the ground. It is so beautiful. Temperatures are in the balmy range of 20-30 degrees fahrenheit (-6.6 to -1.1 celsius). With that said here are some more winter images.
The Bedford Reservation of the Cleveland Metro Parks is just a hop, skip and a jump away from the towpath trail and the Ohio and Erie Canal. My first stop was at Hemlock Creek. It is a small stream that empties into Tinkers Creek. There is this cute little waterfall. I did get some nice video of this waterfall and I may post it later.
HEMLOCK CREEK

This next shot was taken across the driveway to the Hemlock Creek parking area. There is a nice embankment down to creek level. Will I dare the 10 ft slide down?
CREEKSIDE

Oh, what the hell! Let’s go for it. This was taken from the Tinkers Creek stream bed. I was risking my state of dryness by getting so close to the waters edge. The water on the right side of the image is actually Hemlock Creek. So yes, I’m right at the gateway (I love that word). It was a really beautiful scenic view. And the snow was heavy enough that it actually obscures the bridge for the roadway that crosses the creek.
TINKERS CREEK

Well, all good things…. Time to try and make my way back up the snowy slippery hill and head for the next stop.
UP THE HILL

Next stop is Bridal Veil Falls. To get down to the falls one had to risk life and limb to climb down a steep hill. This was the entrance. The tree branches were so heavy with snow that I had to make sure my lens cap was on and stoop to go underneath them.
GATEWAY TO THE DOWNHILL SLIDE

As you can see this wooden staircase was completely snow covered. A dangerous task to wend ones way downward to the falls. I was terrified that I would end up at the bottom – the human snowball – I cautiously made my way….
TREACHEROUS STAIRCASE

What happened next? Well tune in tomorrow, same time, same site, same station for the next thrilling chapter in my Vinter Adwenture…… ![]()
In the meantime enjoy this New Years Day song by The Violet Burning from their latest multi-disc recording THE STORY OF OUR LIVES.
The Violet Burning – MON DESIR
the violet burning – Mon Désir
the radio plays
on New Year’s Day
and all I want is you
through the snow and the rain
on New Year’s Day
all I want is you
there’s a driving rain
pouring down on me
through a broken life
you have carried me
when there are no lights
you are all I see
all I want is you
all the promises made
on New Year’s Day
all I want is you
and the meteors came
on New Year’s Day
all I want is you
there’s a driving rain
pouring down on me
through a broken life
you have carried me
when there are no lights
you are all I see
all I want is you
we came in there, through Chicago
beneath a blinding light
you came all the way from heaven
through the sorrow and the night
(I was waiting for your gift there, in the palaces of song
I knelt down to forgiveness for all I had done wrong)
and the radio plays
on New Year’s Day
but all I want is you
there’s a driving rain
pouring down on me
through a broken life
you have carried me
when there are no lights
you are all I see
all I want is you
Crazy and glorious way to begin another circle around the sun…
Isn’t “crazy and glorious” the best way?
Glad to have met you this past year. Looking forward to seeing your ideas and work as we travel this new “circle around the sun.”
Let’s dance…
Some things you just have to say yes to! Glorious shots and lovely to see your winter paradise. Happy New Year!
Thanks Patti. So glad to have met you this past year. Looking forward to what you will post in 2013. Happy New Year my friend.
hppynwyr. Lovely lovely images. Being out there, listening to the near silence, the icy waters moving through iced areas, a few random animal sounds, and on a good day with heavy snow, the sound of snow hitting the snow.
I like that “sound of snow hitting…snow” What a great description TooL. As always I am grateful for your continued support even if I’m not on flickr anymore.
Oh, I so want to use that image–the sound of show hitting the snow. It is just beautiful.
Snow hitting snow, I mean. I have been doing that all night–typing show instead of snow. My fingers are on mutiny.
very cool walk and pics…oh i wish we had snow but lots of rain over here at the moment….went for a long run in the rain this morning…not a bad day to start the new year, but unfortunately not half as romantic as your pics are…smiles…happy new year to you!!
Thanks Claudia. Rainy days are also nice. A long run/walk in the rain sounds nice.
Happy New Year, Terry!
Outstanding shots to start my year … Happy New Year Terry!
