crushing storm

SANDY
sandy-no. 9508

This image is an abstraction of a photo taken by a fellow blogger. The original photo was part of a post that featured the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast of the US. I’m so grateful to Patti Kuche for her permission to use her image for my own creation. I pretty much “stormed over” the image because it just felt like the Hurricane was still going on. And in some ways it is still going on as there are still people struggling to put their lives together after that storm and many of them have now had to deal with the onslaught of winter storms. It reels the mind to think what that must be like. Her blog is titled NYLON DAZE. She describes her blog as “From London to New York, living in an expat daze”. She is an amazing documentary photographer who has a way of placing the viewer in the middle-of-it-all while maintaining an artful vision. The photo that captured my imagination was titled “COLLAPSE” and was featured in the post titled “ON THE BEACH” from 17 Dec. 2012. Here is the link to the photo she so graciously gave me permission to use

. Be sure to check out her blog.

Thank you Patti for your ongoing inspiration.

Very nice rework, hard to reognize the original, but this one has a great ´sandy´ look. And thanks for introducing Patti´s work! Greetings, Ron

The house slides on the sand
Patti has captured the moment and you gave it the movement. Great!

Oh my daze – what you have done with the photo is unbelievable! I remember the wild, heavy winds and rains of that night but I was safe and secure. The shock at the extent of the devastation exposed such a fragility and what a huge and unimaginable strength of nature it must have taken to turn so much upside down and inside out.

Your abstract rendition has captured so much of that fierce energy and indeed given it so much movement, the winds are howling.

Brilliant work Terry! And thank you so much for your wonderful support and kind words.

    (In awe as ever!)

Vedo una casa in corso da un amico tempesta, basta portarla a fare una passeggiata, vedere cosa sta succedendo intorno a voi. Colori tenui e delicati. mi piace

This is so bright. I get a ‘bright’ vibe definitely. The blue and yellow together bring forth images of the beach. Oh wait, these aren’t Rorschach tests.
